Transportation and Logistics

The competition tasks of this skill category are based on the Vocational qualification in logistics.

The qualification titles of the basic qualification are lorry driver, bus driver, articulated vechile driver, service logistics operative, maintenance operative and ground services operative.

The professional who have completed the qualification may work according to the competence area for example in transporting people or goods in a transport company, industry, at airport, in warehouses of different companies or in the public sector.

Description of the skill category

A driver and an articulated vehicle driver transport different goods in traffic with van, lorry and vehicle combination. They use different loading equipment in their work, such as a forklift, crane and wheel loader. The work tasks include load handling, customer service and terminal tasks. Moreover, the tasks include management of telematics for logistics (GPS tracking devices, different navigation systems, smart cards, devices for wireless communication).

A bus driver transports passengers in local traffic, express coaches, liner and charter traffic. The bus driver’s job is a service profession.

The competition is individual.

Competitors work in the best interests of their profession and workplace

Competitors take into account the impacts of human factors on occupational and road safety

Competitors prevent crime in transport through their activities

Competitors take action in problem situations

Competitors hand over the vehicle at the end of the work assignment
